Top dog walkers in Chandler Park
Wag! Walkers know Chandler Park
Chandler Park is one of the larger neighborhoods in Cape Canaveral on the east side of town. Along with single-family homes, townhomes, and condos on the beach, the neighborhood is home to the Cape View Elementary School and Cherie Down Park. The entire community sits between Rosalind Avenue and the Atlantic coast, providing direct access to the beach in most areas. Just remember that you can't take your dog on the beach itself in Cape Canaveral.
The one problem with living this far north is that essential amenities, such as shopping, are not within walking distance. If you drive over to Astronaut Boulevard, you will find a number of restaurants, hotels, and convenience stores, but if you want anything more, a short drive in the car is necessary. Most of the things you need can be found along the West Cocoa Causeway or on Astronaut Boulevard. If you want a big department store, there are Walmart Supercenters on the other end of both causeways.
What is the terrain like in Chandler Park?
Both Rosalind Avenue on the west side of the community and Ridgewood Avenue to the east tend to see a lot of traffic during the morning and evening rush hours. Then there is the seemingly never-ending supply of tourists running up and down Ridgewood to the various condos to deal with. The good news is that being this far north, once the main rush hours are past, even Ridgewood Avenue tends to quiet down enough for you and your dog to use the sidewalks for your daily hikes.
If you prefer not to take your dog walking along bustling streets like Ridgewood, you can always walk in the surrounding residential areas. Not only will the two of you find less traffic to worry about, but there are sidewalks in most of them for you to use that will make going for walks together a little safer and there is plenty of room to stretch your legs.
How many greenways are there in Chandler Park?
The nearest green space is Cherie Down Park on Washington Avenue. The park offers a large area of grass and shade trees for the two of you to play around on and make the most of. For the humans in your family, the park also offers direct access to the beach. Keep in mind that dogs are not allowed on the beaches in Cape Canaveral, but, luckily, you have quite a few more options.
The nearest dog park is south in Cocoa Beach. The Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park provides 32,000 square feet and is divided into sections for small and large dogs. Each section has plenty of chairs for you to sit on and lots of shade to hide under while your dog runs off and plays with the other pups in the park. There are water hoses to provide the dogs with a drink and a rinse station to clean everyone up before the car ride home.
