Wag! Walkers know Madison Townhomes
The Madison Townhomes sit on Madison Avenue, midway between North Atlantic Avenue and the coast. The townhouses have private fenced-in yards and
private access. While this is a predominately residential area, many of the
homes are used as winter and vacation spots. Most of the streets
also have sidewalks running alongside them for you and your dog to use for your
daily walks.
Living in this area puts you with walking distance of the Cape Canaveral
Baseball Park, Canaveral City Park, and Sandpiper Park complex as well as the Cape Canaveral
Volunteer Fire Department. There a few local restaurants and bars you can walk to, but
if you need groceries or the other items, it's
a short trip south to the West Cocoa Beach Causeway, the central shopping
district on this side of the river. If you cross the river into Merritt Island,
there is also a Walmart Supercenter and the Merritt Island Mall.
What is the terrain like in Madison Townhomes?
As residential districts go, traffic around the Madison Townhomes
is relatively quiet most of the day. There are the morning and evening
rush hours to deal with and, during the school year, those noisy yellow buses running
through. Having sidewalks with grass berms will make it safer for you and your dog to go for your walks
and your pup is sure to appreciate not having to walk on the paved sidewalks all
the time. With these walkways following the flat terrain that prevents you from having to hike up or down any steep grades, you should find it fairly easy to get in some light exercise during your strolls.
Being a residential area, you should expect to run across any
number of pedestrians who may be venturing to any nearby businesses or residential spaces. Keep this in mind if your pup is not one to enjoy meeting or greeting any of the locals.
How many greenways are there in Madison Townhomes?
It just so happens that you are only one block from the Cape
Canaveral Baseball Park, Canaveral City Park, and Sandpiper Park complex. These three parks
cover two full city blocks between Monroe and Harrison Avenues. The parks offer two baseball diamonds, walking
trails, and plenty of space for you and your dog to run around and get some exercise.
Here in Cape Canaveral, most of the parks have been opened for dogs who are on leashes. Each
park has a pet waste bag dispenser and a receptacle to put them in. Be a good pet
owner and make use of these to keep the parks clean. They are the only
place in town you are allowed to take your dog as the
beaches are off limits to them with the exception
of service animals. If you want to take
your dog along the coast, you'll have to take a short drive to Cocoa Beach.
