Sunset Arms may be the perfect place to live if you want to keep your car clean! These townhouses sit on Sunset Court behind a carwash that is along A1A and Astronaut Boulevard. Despite the noise and traffic that comes with living on this busy highway, there is a park for you and your dog to use on the other side of Long Point Road. This street runs from A1A to a dead end where there is a large area of woods, but they are private property.
For shopping amenities, there are few small strip malls where you should be able to pick up small items you need. For actual groceries, you'll have to go south on A1A where you will find a Publix Supermarket. For more shopping opportunities, keep going south to the West Cocoa Beach Causeway where you will find the area's central shopping district. Over the bridge in Merritt Island, there is even a mall and a Walmart Supercenter.
Although A1A can be a very busy highway, especially when the cruise ships are boarding or returning, you can still use the sidewalks in front of the Sunset Arms and all around it to take your dog for walks. There are also several residential neighborhoods to the south where the two of you can cruise the sidewalks for your exercise pleasure.
Along both sides of Astronaut Blvd, these wide sidewalks provide spaces for you and your pup to use, but you'll need to keep in mind that there are times of the day when this stretch of road is virtually filled with bumper-to-bumper traffic. Be sure you keep your dog on a short leash and make them walk on the inside and away from any oncoming vehicles. The best time of the day to go walking is early in the morning before rush hour or before the outdoors become just a bit too hot.
While there are woods to the west, they are marked private property, so you can't use them for your excursions. In addition, here in Cape Canaveral, the beaches have the same signs directed at dogs! No dogs are permitted to enjoy the sand, but they are welcome to play in most of the city parks. There are several nearby all of which have waste bag dispensers and receptacles for you to use.
If you would like to be able to take your dog for long walks on the beach, you don't have far to go. Playful pups are welcome on the beaches in Cocoa Beach with minimal restriction.
You can also take your whole family to Lori Wilson Park and use the field there to have fun or head out and onto the sand where you and your pup can hike for many miles. Don't forget that you have to hike just as far back, so conserve your energy!
