Top dog walkers in Victoria Homes
Wag! Walkers know Victoria Homes
Victoria Homes is a small townhouse in the middle of several others on Monroe Avenue, right across the street from the Cape Canaveral Baseball Field and the Canaveral City Park. This puts you midway between Ridgewood Avenue and Astronaut Boulevard, one of the main thoroughfares in the neighborhood. It also means you have only to cross the street with your dog and you will be in the park where pups are welcome!
Being this far north, you won't find many opportunities for shopping adventures. There are a few restaurants and small businesses along both sides of Astronaut Boulevard, but if you take this street and head south, you will find a Publix Supermarket at the corner of Barlow Avenue. Here, you can stock the pantry and fridge or fill the food bin with your choice of premium dog foods for the one special member of your family who walks on all fours.
What is the terrain like in Victoria Homes?
Beyond rush hours and when there are games going on in the Cape Canaveral Baseball Park, the neighborhood is much like any other residential area with a minimal amount of vehicular traffic during the day. Most of the streets have sidewalks with grass berms for you and your dog to use, providing a much better area for your dog to walk in the hotter months as it won't burn their paw pads!
The other thing you and your dog are going to have to get used to is a significant number of pedestrians in the immediate area. In part, this high level of pedestrian traffic is due to the city park across the street and is simply a fact of living in a residential area. Keep an eye out for crowds or strangers if your dog is a bit shy and consider visiting some of the parks to give your dog plenty of space to wander.
How many greenways are there in Victoria Homes?
City Center Park, Cape Canaveral Baseball Park, and Sandpiper Park all offer walking trails, lots of shade, and large areas of grass for you and your dog to run around on. Thanks to a new city ordinance passed in 2018, dogs are welcome in almost every park in the city!
If you want to take your dog for walks on the beach, you'll have to drive to Cocoa Beach as Cape Canaveral doesn't allow dogs on their coastal sands. Lori Wilson Park on A1A is no more than fifteen-minute drive and gives you direct access to the areas where dogs are permitted. There is plenty of parking and public restrooms for you to use.
Just to the south of this park is the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park where your dog will be able to run around off-leash in either the big dog section or the one that is just for little ones. The park has plenty of shade, lots of seating, and water for thirsty pups.
