Top dog walkers in Forest Isles
Wag! Walkers know Forest Isles
Forest Isles is a small community of upscale homes on two cul-de-sacs, jutting out into the Banana River. Many of the homes sit on the waterfront with direct access to the river itself. The entrance to the neighborhood is via Esther Road, branching off from North Atlantic Avenue. There is a small business complex shielding the area from the traffic on A1A and helping to block at least some of the noise it generates.
There is a small shopping center a mile north on A1A, anchored by a Publix supermarket where you should be able to buy just about everything your family needs. To the south on A1A, there are several restaurants for you and your family to sample. Saving the best for last: the dog park is on the other side of A1A, meaning you can walk to it in just a few minutes, even if you live in the furthest house out!
What is the terrain like in Forest Isles?
Being on a cul-de-sac has many advantages, but when it comes to going for walks with your dog, the most important one is the lack of traffic. There are the morning and evening rush hours, but given the limited number of homes in the area, they tends to be light. This is a very good thing as it seems like someone forgot to add sidewalks to building plans, leaving you and your dog to walk on the roads.
If you decide to walk to the dog park, you will need to keep your dog on a short leash for their safety, at least until you get to the park. If going the distance is your thing, there is a wide paved walkway running along the east side of A1A for miles in either direction. Here again, you should be using a short leash in case you encounter other pedestrians along this mainly flat walkway.
How many greenways are there in Forest Isles?
How lucky can you possibly get than to be across the street from the Lori Wilson Park and Cocoa Beach public dog park? The fenced-in area of the dog park covers three-quarters of an acre and is divided into safe places for small and large breeds to play. There is plenty of shade, lots of chairs to sit on, and water for the pups.
From the parking lot, there are trails you and your dog can take that lead to the beach. The beaches here have special reserved times just for dogs. These are from 6 to 10 AM and 5 to 7 PM. Your dog must be on a leash at all times and you are required to clean up after them. To facilitate this, the city has installed pet waste disposal sites at each crossover to the beach, so be sure you do your part to keep the beach areas of this neighborhood clean!
