Ganesh is home to one major hotel and a gas station, however, surrounding it are numerous condos, townhouse communities, and other hotels. For those who are staying in the hotel or live nearby, there are several small areas of grass for you to walk your dog on as long as you clean up any messes they leave behind! Finding any open areas of grass in this part of the city is not an easy task as there are so many homes and businesses.
Just north of Ganesh, there is the Cornerstone Plaza, a small shopping center anchored by a Publix Supermarket where you can buy groceries for everyone in the family, including the one whose tail never stops wagging. For more shopping options, the West Cocoa Beach Causeway is the main shopping district in town and has another shopping center with a Winn-Dixie supermarket and several other stores for you to shop at.
Ganesh sits on A1A, one of the busiest highways in town. The traffic never seems to stop, but the morning and evening rush hours are the worst with congestion, noise, and far too many exhaust fumes. If you must take your dog walking along A1A, there are flat sidewalks for you and your pup to make good use of. The best time of day to walk along this vital highway is in the early morning before the rush hour traffic starts to build and the temperatures begin to climb.
No matter where you choose to take your dog for their daily walks, you should always use a short leash. This will help keep your dog under control around other pedestrians. There is one more very important benefit to keeping your dog on a short leash: it will make them feel more secure and less apt to do something out of the range of their normal behavior!
From the condos and hotel in and around Ganesh, you can be on the beach in less than ten minutes, even if you have to walk slowly or get distracted. The Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier is your closest beach access point and offers a vast parking lot for those going to the dunes or out on the pier. The beaches from 4th Street to Murkshe Park are open to dogs from 6 to 10 AM and 5 to 7 PM. With both soft sand and wet sand to choose from, you can get a variety of exercise here in this area.
Cocoa Beach does have a public dog park less than ten minutes south that covers almost an acre and is divided into spaces for small and large breeds. There is plenty of shade to sit under and water for the pups. There is even a rinse station to cool your dog down and rinse off the sand and dust before heading home.
