River Isles is an upscale community consisting of nine artificial "islands," jutting out into the Banana River from the Minuteman Causeway. Because of the unique design of this community, every home sits on waterfront property. Many of the homes even have docks for tying their boats to or go fishing from! The artificial canals lead directly into the Banana River and, from there, you can go anywhere the river takes you or spend the day out on the water fishing.
Shopping is less than five minutes from the furthest out isle, close to the Minuteman Causeway. There a couple of grocery stores, numerous restaurants, and the city offices along with the fire and police departments. If you need more than this, it’s only a short drive north on A1A to the West Cocoa Beach Causeway where there is a Winn-Dixie supermarket and several other stores and restaurants. You can also take the causeway over the river to Merritt Island where there is a mall and a Walmart Supercenter.
What is the terrain like in River Isles?
Each of the "isles" consists of a single road that ends in a cul-de-sac, which keeps traffic to a bare minimum. Once everyone has left for work, the only other traffic is likely to be the mail carrier on any given weekday. The one thing missing is sidewalks for you and your dog to use when you go out for your strolls. Of course, if you avoid the morning and evening rush, this really shouldn't be a problem, especially as the terrain in general is free of any hills or climbs.
There is a paved path running along both sides of the Minuteman Causeway that lead into town or all the way out to the Cocoa Beach Country Club and Aquatic Center. The path on the south side of the road is the one that goes out to the club. By walking on this path, you have plenty of distance to work with and it's much wider than the one on the north side.
How many greenways are there in River Isles?
The nearest green space is the beach to the east. You can drive there in less than five minutes or walk your dog in less than twenty. Most of the beaches in Cocoa Beach are open to dogs during set hours of the day. The sandy dunes are a fantastic place to take your dog for long walks in the fresh ocean air and sunshine. You must keep your dog on a short leash and clean up any messes they make, however.

Your pooch is going to love running around free in the appropriate section of this park! Each section has lots of shade, water for the pups, and chairs to sit in the shade.
