Wag! Walkers know Seacrest Beach
Seacrest Beach is a large area of condominiums sandwiched between A1A and the Atlantic coastal region. Living here puts you close to the shopping amenities along the Minuteman Causeway where you will find a few small stores, restaurants, and bars. The causeway also leads to the Cocoa Beach Country Club, a public golf course, and the Cocoa Beach Junior-Senior High School. There is also access to the Cocoa Beach Aquatic Center, a public swimming pool, and a splash park.
If you want access to a grocery store, it can be found to the north along the W Cocoa Beach Causeway. This includes a shopping center anchored by a Winn-Dixie supermarket where you can buy food for everyone in your family, including the one with the waggly tail.
The one big advantage to living here is that you are within walking distance of the local dog park where you can let your dog run around off-leash!
What is the terrain like in Seacrest Beach?
With so many condos, finding somewhere to take your dog out for walks can be challenging. You can walk around the complexes where there are lots of grassy areas and sidewalks. The flat terrain and lack of any hills will make it easier for pups with any mobility issues or those who aren't looking for strenuous exercise.
Even if your dog is used to walking near traffic, you may find that the noise of heavy traffic and the smell it creates to be too much for your pooch. Be sure you use a short leash to walk your dog as this will give you more control if they should happen to try and bolt. Alternatively, take a trip to some nearby neighborhoods further away from the main roads or into one of the local greenways where things can be a little more quiet for a particularly skittish or nervous pup.
How many greenways are there in Seacrest Beach?
Each of the individual condos has areas of grass around them where you and your dog can get in a little play time and make a quick pit stop. If you need more room, it's only a short walk from your condo to the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park. The dog park has a fenced-in area that measures just under an acre and is divided into three sections. One is for larger dogs, one is for smaller dogs, and one has a rinse station where you can use the hose to cool your dog down.
Then there is the beach which with the exception of a few sections that are off-limits to pups. You should be aware that dogs are only permitted on the beach during a few select hours out of the day. You are also required to keep your pup on a leash and clean up after them. Failure to do so could result in a fine of $250, so keep things clean!
