Top dog walkers in Venetian Plaza
Wag! Walkers know Venetian Plaza
Venetian Plaza is a business area along the north side of the West Cocoa Beach Causeway, running from Banana River Boulevard to the Banana River itself. Here, you will find the ubiquitous Starbucks so you can grab a nice cold frappuccino to drink while you are out taking your dog for a walk. While there may not be any residences in the area, less than one block north, there are plenty of large single-family homes on Angelo Lane and others nearby.
West Cocoa Beach is the main shopping area in this part of the city serving both Cocoa Beach itself and Cape Canaveral. There are several stores, including a Winn-Dixie Supermarket where you should be able to find food for the whole family, including the one with the waggly tail. For those of you who like to eat out, you will find a variety of local and chain restaurants to choose from.
What is the terrain like in Venetian Plaza?
You couldn't be at a much busier part of town than right here at the West Cocoa Beach Causeway. As one of the main routes across the Banana River, the traffic along the causeway tends to be heavy all day long. Luckily, there are plenty of residential areas to the north where you will find far less traffic and a much safer environment to take your dog walking in.
If your dog is used to traffic and the noise it generates, the city has recently installed sidewalks along both sides of the causeway the two of you can use. If you feel like walking out over the Banana River, the walkways have been extended to include a protected path across the causeway. You can take your dog walking out over the water and enjoy watching the boats or take a trip out to Constitution Bicentennial Park where there is a small area to play in.
How many greenways are there in Venetian Plaza?
Constitution Bicentennial Park is the closest city park, but doesn't really have much in the way of space for your dog to run around. If you want more room, you are much better off if you go east to the beach where you and your dog can hike for miles in the sand, making the most of the varied terrain to extend your walks and enjoy the fresh ocean breezes. The one thing you should know about the park is that there are only certain hours in which dogs are allowed on the sand.
If you are interested in taking your dog somewhere where they don't need to be on a leash, the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park is a ten-minute drive south. Whether you have a small or large dog, there are fenced-in sections for both and, in the entry area, there is a hose to rinse the dust and dirt off before you head home.
