Clear Lake Terrace is a large residential space along the west side of Clearlake Road and to the north of the University of Central Florida campus. The houses are mostly upscale single-family units set on suburban-size lots that leave you enough lawn to enjoy having a family dog. The community is laced with several streets, none of which have a single sidewalk.
When it comes to shopping, there are plenty of choices within a few minutes of your home. Immediately to the north is an ALDI supermarket and, right across the street on the other side of Clearlake Road, is a Walmart Supercenter. Around the corner, you'll find a Publix Supermarket and strip mall. If you like to eat out, there are several local and chain restaurants nearby. In fact, you and your dog can walk to the drive-up window of a Taco Bell, a Dunkin Donuts, and a Domino's Pizza if those particularly suit your tastes!
The terrain in and around Clear Lake Terrace is what most would refer to as suburban. The homes all sit on large yards and the streets are wide, but have no sidewalks for you and your pooch to use for your daily walks. As a working community, you can expect traffic to be hectic during the morning and evening rush hours.
Clear Lake Terrace is a family community, which means you may run into other pedestrians walking along the sidewalks and roads in the region. The region is also easy to navigate, consisting of only a few streets that curve here and there and usually loop back around, so going too far shouldn't make it impossible to make your way back home.
If your pooch is particularly athletic, you may need to find alternative areas to venture, since this region lacks any major variation of terrain.
The nearest park is Travis Park on Michigan Avenue next to the university grounds. The park offers a playground, a basketball court, a recreation center, and plenty of grass for you and your dog to run around on. The only requirements are that you keep your pooch on a leash and you carry bags with you to clean up after them. The park also has a small lake with a paved walking trail.
Most dogs love the opportunity to run around without being hindered by a leash, making off-leash dog parks particularly in demand. Living in Clear Lake Terrace puts you within ten minutes of the best dog park, and the only one, in this part of town. Barks and Recreation sits on a large lake with plenty of room to walk around it. Inside the fenced-in area, there are separate zones for large and small dogs equipped with doggy water fountains to keep thirsty pups well hydrated.
