Coventry of Cocoa is a large, modern, single-family housing community off of SR-524, close to the Eastern Florida State College Fred Gay Golf Academy. Coventry of Cocoa is a relatively new development with a large lake in the center as well as access to a community swimming pool and tennis court. The area is typical of new suburbia in that houses are built to maximize front to back land use which allows for more homes per square foot.
One of the major advantages of the area is that shopping opportunities are just around the corner. Cocoa Commons is where the Publix supermarket can be found, along with a Planet Fitness. On the other side of the street is a CVS and, continuing east, there is a post office, a strip mall, and the Walmart Supercenter where you should be able to find everything your pooch needs.
Modern suburbia is the best way to describe the terrain within Coventry of Cocoa. The area consists of tightly packed houses with sidewalks for you and your dog to take long walks on. Most of the way around the community, the paths have ample shade trees to help keep you a little cooler if you take your walks later in the day. Coventry of Cocoa is a working family community, which will also bring about several other pedestrians that you may come across.
If you must go out for a walk with your dog during the busier hours, be sure you use a short leash that allows you to maintain better control. If you want a longer walk, there is a wide paved walkway that runs all the way into town. It's a great trail to take your dog for a walk on as you can stick to the pavement and your dog can walk in the grass to keep their paws cool and comfortable.
There is a common area of grass around the community swimming pool that you and your dog might be welcome on as long as you keep them on a short leash and clean up any messes they leave behind. However, this is a very small area and you and your pooch may need more than this if you want to get in any serious exercise.
On the south side of SR-524 is a vast area of woods filled with lakes and trails. This area is a great place to go hiking with your dog! There are miles of pathways and a lake in the center that is worth hiking to. One thing to keep in mind is that the woods are home to an incredibly diverse range of wildlife, not all of which should be interacted with. Keep your pup close to your side to avoid running into any of the animal inhabitants in the area.
