Fern Meadows is a large, single developer community surrounding three lakes close to the intersection with SR-524. Living this far out of town means not having to deal with a lot of traffic or noise. While a major roadway is at your front door, this far out, there is significantly less traffic to deal with.
However, having a house in Fern Meadows doesn't mean you have to drive forever to find essential amenities like grocery stores, gas stations, or a place to buy supplies for your pooch. Whether you take West King Road into town or head up SR-524 to the Publix and Walmart Supercenter, virtually every essential item your family needs is available no more than twent minutes away from your home. It's a small price to pay for a little peace and quiet.
What is the terrain like in Fern Meadows?
With only one road in and out of Fern Meadows and the roads inside forming two square loops, the only time you are likely to see much traffic is during rush hours as people head to and from work. Like many of the newer subdivisions, there are sidewalks on both sides of the streets with grass berms to separate you from the traffic. Even with the sidewalks, you may still want to avoid the busy times of day unless your pup is used to the noise and smell.
While there is no real reason for the two of you to walk along West King Street, if you find that you need to, there aren't any sidewalks. However, the grass berms along both sides are very wide with plenty of room for you and your dog to roam along. There, you'll find parking and access to the Florida Trail which has been designated as a National Scenic Trail that is somewhere around 1,300 miles long.

This park offers the largest fenced-in zones in the area with plenty of room for the dogs to run around, burning off plenty of energy and calories while you relax in the shade.
