Wag! Walkers know Point View Place
Point View Place is a small cul-de-sac community of upscale luxury homes on the west bank of the Indian River and close to the Martin Anderson Beachline Expressway that crosses the river to Merritt Island. Given its location, the neighborhood enjoys a small amount of seclusion and a minimal amount of traffic. The only thing missing here are sidewalks for you and your pup to use for your daily walks.
For daily supplies, groceries, and pet supplies, there is a Walmart Supercenter on the west side of US-1, less than ten minutes from your driveway. If you need more than this or are looking for a few great places to take the family out for meals, Cocoa has several great chain and local restaurants for you to choose from. Since the city lacks a true "central shopping district," these, like many other businesses, are scattered throughout the town, which makes finding them a bit of a challenge.
What is the terrain like in Point View Place?
The houses in Point View Place sit along a short road aptly named Point View Place and, as stated earlier, is a cul-de-sac without sidewalks branching off Indian River Drive. Sidewalks must have been in short supply when these areas were developed, leaving you no choice but to walk on the roads.
Traffic within the community itself is minimal and, with so few homes, you never truly have to worry about rush hour. However, you may see more traffic out on Indian River Drive during peak times.
Thankfully, on the east side of Indian River Drive, there is a wide grass berm the two of you can use for your walks. Along with being the west bank of the river, this grass berm has been built up to provide access to the many private docks jutting out into the water. The grass makes a safer place to walk and will be much easier on your pooch's paws.
How many greenways are there in Point View Place?
Beyond the wide strip of grass on the other side of Indian River Drive, you and your pooch will have to go for a ride in the car for other greenway options. The best places to go are on the other side of the Indian River in Merritt Island or over in Cocoa Beach. Even if you choose to drive to Cocoa Beach, it should take you less than 25 minutes
Cocoa Beach has opened its coastal areas to your four-legged friend from 4th Street down the coast to South 16th Street. However, they are only open to dogs for a few specific hours out of the day.
In the middle of Merritt Island is the Ulumay Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to a wide range of birds, mosquito control lagoons, and a long trail on the waterway for you and your dog to walk along as you look for the many birds who call this place home.
