Atlantic Beach

The Atlantic Beach in North Carolina is a great place to spend your summer vacation, along with your friends, family, and four-legged companion. Dogs can enjoy the beach, but they need to be on a leash and under full control of their owners while on the premises.

The dog-friendly area of Atlantic Beach permits dogs on the sand all year. However, pets are not allowed in lifeguard protected areas beyond 20 feet from the water's edge. They can walk through the Circle Area but are not permitted to stay there. 

Whether you want to walk Fido near the shoreline or swim together in the beautiful ocean waters, Atlantic Beach is a great way to exercise and socialize your pup at the same time. While out in the sun, owners need to bring plenty of water with them and prevent their dogs from drinking the ocean saltwater. More so, handlers should rinse off their pets as soon as they are done playing to avoid rashes and skin irritations due to sand and saltwater. 

Owners can socialize their pets or take a relaxing walk near the ocean, preferably at a time when the sun is less intense. Hairless dogs or those who have a short or light-colored coat are especially vulnerable to the sun. If there is no source of shade nearby, owners are advised to bring an umbrella along with them as well.

Every visitor is required to clean up after their dog, just as they would on any public or private park from the city.
