Your doggo is welcome romp on the sand and splash in the calm ocean waves with you on this puptastic beach, with a few restrictions. Dogs need to stay leashed at all times on the beach. During the busy season between Memorial Day and Labor Day, dogs are not allowed on the beach between the hours of 9 AM to 6 PM, which means you can bring your pup in the early morning or evening for a seaside adventure. The rest of the year, dogs are allowed anytime.
This beach offers not only incredible views, but also furbulous dunes. This fragile ecosystem is off limits to foot traffic, so please steer clear of them, or you may risk a fine. These dunes grow sea oats, which the local sea turtles who like to nest on this beach need. If you are lucky enough to spot a sea turtle or a nest, be sure to keep a distance from either for their safety. Always fill in any holes your pup might dig before you leave the beach, to ensure no turtles fall in.Â
There are a few public walkways to access the beach, but your best bet is at the Ocean Isle Beach Pier, where there's a large parking lot, the pier, a cafe, arcade and an ice cream parlor. Also be sure to keep your dog on the beach, as they are not allowed in public areas. A Pooper Scooper ordinance is in effect in Ocean Isle Beach which requires all owners to pick up whatever their pup lays down, so be sure to have clean-up bags on hand. Water to share with your thirsty pup should also be in your beach essentials list.Â
