On the beautiful Oregon Coast, only a few miles south of Newport, the Beachside State Recreation Site offers miles of sandy beach, which is a pawfect destination for walks, flying kites, or watching for whales. Best of all, this beach is dog-friendly, and even allows your pup to run off leash!
Beachside State Recreation Site on the central coast of Oregon is open daily, but only seasonally, between March 15th and November 1st, depending on the weather. This 16 acre site is a prime spot for some pawtastic beach fun! You and your pup can kick up the sand, splash in the Pacific Ocean, stroll for shells, or just sunbathe while listening to the soothing ocean waves. The beach itself is sandy and long, and butts up against the beautiful campgrounds surrounded by trees. Note that the weather can be unpredictable, so be sure to be prepared, rain or shine.
The park has trails for both hiking and biking, as well as spots for picnicking. For overnight visitors, the park offers campsites with electrical hookups for RVs and tents, or even yurts, one of which is even pet-friendly. Every campsite is near the beach, and are excellent spots to watch the waves or sunsets. You can make camping reservations on the Beachside State Recreation Site website or by phone. Though there is no fee for day use of the beach, there are fees for campsites which vary by type. Showers are available for human campers.
Your pup can run free on the beach, just be sure to have a leash in hand just in case. Also keep your dog in sight and under voice command at all times. However, on trails, in picnic areas and in camping areas, your dog must be on a leash no longer than six feet. Your dog can also be inside a tent or RV, but must put that leash back on whenever roaming inside the site. Be sure to have all the essentials for a fun and safe day out, which includes food, drinking water and clean-up bags. Always stoop and scoop anywhere on the beach or other areas inside the Beachside State Recreation Site, and help keep this pawrific spot pup-friendly!
