Black Beach

Black Beach, formally known as "Black's Beach's” is located beside the Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla, a small seaside community within the city of San Diego, California. It’s a renowned Beach that has both a clothing-optional section, which appeals to nudists, and a clothing mandatory section where you can find family activities. It is in the south section of the beach where nudity has been banned. This area is marked off by clear boundary signs and signs indicating dress code regulations. So, whatever your preference may be, Black's Beach has you covered (or not!).

Black’s Beach itself runs for two miles, and depending on the tide, it can be as wide as 60 feet. Surrounding the beach are beautiful sandstone cliffs reaching up to 300 feet high, providing hang gliders with a perfect spot to take off from, and providing you and your pooch with unreal views.

On top of hang gliding, there are a variety of activities accessible on the beach including swimming, surfing, and snorkeling as well as jogging and playing beach sports such as volleyball. An important thing to note about the beach is that stingrays often times rest below the sand in the waters of Black's Beach, which can result in an accidental sting, if you're not careful.

Black's Beach is known for its powerful currents which can pose a risk to swimmers. It is important to note that lifeguards are not consistently on duty, rather, they occasionally patrol beaches and therefore all children require direct supervision at all times.

If ever you and your pooch find yourselves passing through the small seaside community of La Jolla, don’t forget take a break by popping into Black’s Beach, admiring the scenic views, and strolling along the beach paths with your pooch.
