This beach features soft and clean sand that is perfect for taking walks with your pup, or spreading out a towel and sunbathing. At the back of the beach away from the water, you will find large boulders that make a makeshift wall to protect the stunning homes and condos that sit right on the beach. It is always fun to look at these pretty homes while enjoying the sound of the ocean. While the water looks quite inviting, there has been concern about contamination, so it may be best to stay on shore. Whatever you do with your pup on this beach, be sure to keep them leashed at all times.
Free street parking is available for the South Imperial Beach, and can be found down several side streets, such as Beach, Cortez, Admiralty, and Descanso Avenues. While the larger Imperial Beach City Beach offers plenty of amenities, South Imperial Beach is a bit more bare bones. There are no restrooms for people, and you'll need to bring any essentials for a day out, including clean-up bags for your pup, water to share, and snacks!
Be aware that dogs are not allowed north on Imperial Beach City Beach, so while on South Imperial Beach, keep your pup south of Imperial Beach Boulevard.
South Imperial Beach also offers pawmazing views of the sunset! Take a picnic dinner, some towels and dogs toys, and make a full evening of your trip to the beach with your furry friend!
