Cannon Beach

Outside of Portland, on the gorgeous Oregon coast, dogs seeking beach adventure will love Cannon Beach! The beach is located along the shores of the town of Cannon Beach, and offers four miles of sandy pupperdise for you and your dog to explore.

This dog-friendly beach allows your pooch to romp freely off leash, so long as they remain under voice control at all times. Your dog can run on the entire beach, and splash in the ocean, but make sure you keep them in sight. The stretch of beach comes up against beautiful rolling hills dotted with trees, and features plenty of space for you to walk, throw a frisbee, or even fly a kite. Beachcomb for shells, or just lay out in the sun with your dog. Right offshore is the 235-foot-tall Haystack Rock, home to many different types of birds. Wildlife watchers come to see the Tufted Puffins that nest there, and to marvel at all the life in the surrounding tide pools. Do note that the tide can be tricky with sudden creeper waves, so be careful with your dog.

Access to the beach can be found down side streets such as Center Street and W Gulcana Avenue, among others. A public parking lot is north of Haystack Rock, near S Hemlock Street and Gower Avenue. Public restrooms are available nearby the beach and parking areas, but you'd better bring clean-up bags for your pup, and always pick up whatever they lay down. Be sure to bring food and water for your pup too. It also might be a good idea to bring a towel, just in case your dog gets a little wet.
