Cape Kiwanda itself is part of the three Capes Scenic Route that runs along the puptastically picturesque Oregon Coast. Located to the north of Cape Kiwanda is the beach, an extremely pawpular spot for visitors of the two-legged and the four-legged sort. This sandy retreat is part of a natural space which includes many different hiking trails and lookoff points. You won't want to forget to bring your camera along on this doggone amazing adventure! Your doggo may freely join you in all areas of this barking great beach; however, please do keep Fido on a leash at all times.Â
There are so many pawsome things to do at this seaside haven that you won't know where to begin! Though the water is not recommended for swimming due to its rocky bottom and rough currents, there is lots of sand for you and your best canine pal to enjoy. You can practice building sandcastles, work on your tan, or even just go for a relaxing walk along the shore; all with your main canine squeeze along for company. Fancy a picnic lunch? Bring one along from home and cop a squat in the sand to enjoy your delicious snack. Don't forget to pack some drinking water and cleanup bags too. Other woofderful activities at this beach include hang gliding, kite flying, fishing, bird and whale watching, and hiking.Â
Do take care to avoid the fenced off areas along the cliffs as they are beginning to erode and are very dangerous. To get a better view, use one of the well-marked established looking off points. Don't forget to dip your tootsies in the tide pools. You will find their waters quite refreshing for you and your fave pooch!
