If a more leisurely stroll was what you had in mind, why not take your favorite furry friend for "walkies" on the one-mile walking trail which meanders through ancient spruce tree growth and highlights a natural local phenomenon which has been named the "Octopus Tree?"
There are lots of pawsitively awesome things for you to do at Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint. You can visit a lighthouse whose origins date back to the 1890's, or stop by the Sallie Jacobsen Interpretive Kiosk to learn more about the wildlife and other natural features in the area. Be sure to pack all of the things you and your best canine pal might need for a pawrific day of beachside fun, including food, water, and clean up bags. Bathrooms for public use are available on the premises.
In the winter and spring months, you just might luck out as you two are lounging on the beach and see whales during their seasonal migration. In the summer, you may catch a glimpse of seals and even sea lions; each of whom is sometimes evidenced by their mournful wails. This beach and set of trails is also a natural habitat for many types of nesting birds including murres. Just be careful that Fido doesn't disturb any of the wildlife that makes this area its home.
Most Oregon state parks encourage Fido to romp their beaches without a leash, but you must be pawsitive that he always comes when he is called; otherwise, he is best to stay on lead.
