Run in the sand, swim in the ocean, and meet tons of other pooches who can't get enough of the beach (and their pawrents, of course). The best part? You and your dog are able to enjoy this beach leash-free! Well, most of the time. There are a few special hours and rules and regulations that correspond with the summer season.Â
The beach simply asks that if you and your pup are visiting Freeman Park Off-Leash Dog Park anytime from April 1st through September 30th (otherwise known as summer season), you keep your doggo on a leash. While they don't necessarily specify the leash length for your pup, we suggest keeping it to a moderate 8 feet in order to keep control of your doggo.Â
If you and your pup plan to visit anytime between October 1 and March 31, you and your dog are free to roam around off leash! All the beach asks is that you ensure your pup is well-behaved, polite, friendly, and under voice control (oh, and that they stay a reasonable distance near you, but we don't think you'll have to worry about you and your best buddy getting separated).Â
The beach also asks that you carry a minimum of two plastic bags to pick up after your canine companion - beach patrol is willing and ready to ask you where your plastic bags are, and if you can't show them, they make kick you off the beach!
