Description

Featuring one mile of shoreline along the coast of Lake Michigan, Grand Mere State Park is an exciting destination for dog owners and nature enthusiasts alike. The park has beautiful sand dunes and deep blowouts, making it a fun location to explore.

During the warmer months, take advantage of Grand Mere State Park’s nature trail. It is a short half-mile, making it a quick jaunt for those looking to stretch their legs. Swimming is also allowed, so don’t hesitate to take a dip in the water if you need to take a break from the hot summer sun. When winter makes it way into the park, you can also cross-country ski along the trail, and through the surrounding area, so the fun doesn’t have to end just because of a little (or a lot) of snowfall.

If you prefer a more casual and relaxing experience, consider bringing a lunch and taking advantage of the picnic tables. Many of the facilities are fully accessible, so those with mobility limitations can also have fun during a visit.

For those who prefer to hop into a watercraft to enjoy the water, head over to the boat launch. From there, you can gain access to Middle Lake, letting you explore another area of the park. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are also welcome, so don’t forget to bring yours along on your trip.

If you want to bring your dog to Grand Mere State Park, you aren’t restricted to one area. The entire one-mile shoreline is pet-friendly, so feel free to roam and wander to your heart's content. Just make sure your pooch stays on six-foot a leash at all times. This ensures you can keep them under your control throughout your visit. Plus, be prepared to clean up after your pet. There are trash cans located throughout the park, so you’ll always have a place to dispose of any waste, allowing you to do your part in keeping the beach and surrounding area pristine.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
