Description

Located about seven miles south of the city of Newport, Oregon, the Lost Creek State Recreation Site provides visitors with a wealth of recreational opportunities across its nearly 34 acres. The area was developed with picnicking in mind as well as providing easy beach access.

Along the shoreline, you can enjoy beachcombing year-round. Fishing is also allowed at the Lost Creek State Recreation Site, as long as you have the proper license. When gentle breezes flow across the shoreline, kite-flying can be a fun activity for the whole family, particularly during the warmer months.

You may also be able to see some whales off the coast. Gray whales are the most commonly spotted, particularly in the early morning hours during their migration periods, which run from mid-December through January and again from late March into June. However, some gray whales call the Oregon Coast home practically all year, so you may be able to see some between June and November as well.

The Lost Creek State Recreation Site is also a great location for enjoying a sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Whether the skies are clear or partly cloudy, you can watch amazing shifts in color, including radiant golds, vibrant pinks, deep oranges, and more.

If you are going to bring your dog to the Lost Creek State Recreation Site, it is important to always clean up after them. This ensures that the beach stays in pristine condition, allowing visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the coastline without any distractions.

Additionally, if you let your dog off-leash, you must still have full control over their actions with voice commands. If your dog struggles with voice commands, then keeping them on-leash is a good option. This keeps them in your direct care, making it easier to maintain a safe distance between them and other beachgoers, particularly since not everyone is comfortable around dogs.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
