Louis Valentino Junior Park Beach

If you’re looking for a great place for your dog to swim in Brooklyn, check out Louis Valentino Junior Park Beach! This small but scenic park is located in Red Hook, and has a furrific swimming area for pups.

Louis Valentino Junior Park’s beach is located right below the park’s pier. This sandy beach is used as a kayak and canoe launch, and it’s also a pawpular place for locals to take their dogs swimming. Your pup will have a great time splashing around and swimming in the cool water of the Buttermilk Channel. Some dogs swim out as far as 30 feet!

The waves do sometimes get big at this beach, so if your pup isn’t a strong swimmer, they may want to stick to the shoreline. There also isn’t a shower station in the park, so it’s a good idea to bring a towel to clean your pup after their swim. Also, be sure to bring some doggy bags and drinking water with you.

After your pup is finished splashing around, you can explore the rest of Louis Valentino Junior Park. The park is home to a long pier that juts out into the Buttermilk Channel. This historic channel was used as a shipping route in the 1800s. This pier also offers pawsitively amazing views of the Statue of Liberty and Downtown Manhattan. Louis Valentino Junior Park is also home to a walkway where you can go for strolls with your dog, and the park has a waterside lawn that’s perfect for relaxing and having a picnic with your pup.
