Maili Beach Park

Ma'ili Beach Park is a mile-long stretch of white sand on the western shore of Oahu. It's pretty quiet during the week, but on weekends, it's a popular spot for parties and barbecues. Four-legged friends are free to join the party and explore the beach below the high tide line. You'll need to keep your furry family member on a leash even when you splash in the ocean and swim together. 

Ma'ili Beach Park is bursting with amenities—in addition to bathrooms and showers, there's a playground and outdoor fitness equipment. The grassy lawns beyond the beach are peppered with picnic tables where your leashed pup is free to come sit with you. There's a walking path you can follow through the park and even sites where you can camp if you have a permit. Remember to bring your own waste bags to clean up after your pup. If you forget to bring water or other supplies, there are several local shops near the beach. 

This friendly, accessible beach park is popular with local families, but isn't crowded with tourists and is a great option when you want the perks of a well-maintained beach without the commercial chaos of resort areas.

Mountains encircle this beautiful and expansive 40-acre beach park, and deep turquoise waters beckon you in for a swim. Just be careful as currents can be strong in this area. During the high winds of winter, waves can reach heights of 25 feet and some stretches of sand can disappear altogether. Many jagged rocks jut out from the sand beneath the water and further up the shore, presenting a hazard for surfers and walkers alike. Step carefully to protect tender paws and toes. Also watch your step and your dog around any seals that flop onto the sand for a rest. Respect wildlife by giving these whiskered sea-pups the space they need to enjoy their day, too.
