If your pup loves swimming and playing in the water, head to Mary S. Young State Recreation Area. This 128-acre park is home to a furrific off-leash beach. Your pup will always have fun splashing around here!
To reach the off-leash beach, you’ll have to take the 0.59-mile Riverside Loop Trail. This trail begins right by the park’s main parking lot, and it takes you through a scenic, shady forest. Be sure to keep your pup on-leash while they’re on the trail. Once you reach the beach, you can let your pup off their leash to play!
Mary S. Young State Recreation Area’s beach is located right on the Willamette River. Your pup can run around and play on the shore, or they can go for swims in the river’s cool freshwater. You can also bring a tennis ball or Frisbee and play catch with your pup.
The beach isn’t fenced, so be sure to keep your dog under voice control while they’re running around and swimming. It’s also a good idea to bring drinking water and doggy bags with you to the beach. The beach also gets a bit muddy, so you may want to bring a towel to clean your pup off.
Once your dog is finished swimming, take the Riverside Trail back to the park’s main parking lot. If you’d like, you can also check out some of the park’s other forest trails, or, you can spend some time in the park’s off-leash dog area. This area features plenty of space for dogs to run around and a water pad to play in.
Mary S. Young State Recreation Area Beach is a fun off-leash beach that’s great for every dog who likes swimming. Be sure to clean up after your dog while you're at the beach, and enjoy your day out at this beach!
