Nag’s Head Beach is located in North Carolina. The beach is open year-round and allows leashed dogs on the whole beach. It is unknown whether dogs are allowed in the water or not. The beach seems to be fairly busy, so, keep this in mind while planning your trip. If your dog doesn’t play nicely with other dogs or people, you need to be extra careful.
Nag’s Head used to refer to a general group of beaches and not just one beach. There is an actual “Nag’s Head Beach”, though. The beach is very sandy and is a place where people actually enjoy driving their 4x4s. This is only allowed between October 1 and April 30, however. Nag’s Head has a lot more to offer than the beach. There’s also a lighthouse and a number of piers to explore, as well. The beach plays host to events such as 5ks, water sports shows, and festivals. So, it seems there is plenty to do in the area.
While dogs are allowed on the beach year-round, this beach requires that your dog be kept on a leash 10 feet or shorter. There are no other listed rules for dogs. However, it’s always important to keep an eye on your dog and make sure they aren’t getting into trouble.
There are no notes about poop bags being available on this beach, so please be sure to bring a few of your own. It’s better to be safe than sorry, and cleaning up after your dog is important for health reasons as well as keeping the beach beautiful. Also, be sure to bring your pup food and water if you plan to be out all day long. It’s important to make sure your pooch stays hydrated and well fed.
If you’re in the area anytime soon, Nag’s Head beach is a great place for you and your pooch’s next adventure.
