Comprising of over 54 beautiful acres, Seven Devils State Recreation Site is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The magnificent beach attracts over 75,000 visitors annually, each of them hoping to enjoy some fun in the sun on the sandy shoreline. Fishing and picnicking are popular activities at Seven Devils State Park, but you do need a license if you want to fish. Kite flying is also a fun option, as the winds off the Pacific Ocean can create the ideal conditions.
Swimming is allowed at the park. However, the water can be a bit chilly, so keep that in mind before you take the plunge. Many visitors also enjoy beachcombing during their visit, especially since agates are commonly found at this out-of-the-way location.
If you simply want to get a little exercise, the beach stretches on for several miles. You can take a leisurely stroll or up the ante with a jog, both with or without your dog in tow.
During certain times of the year, visitors may have a chance to see harbor seal pups along the beach. They commonly rest in the area while waiting for their mothers to return with food or to take a break while they are learning to fend for themselves. However, if you spot a seal pup, it’s important not to hover. The mother may not return while people are around, so you don’t want to interfere.
If you choose to bring your dog to Seven Devils State Recreation Site, please keep them on a leash at all times. This allows you to keep them away from area wildlife, including the harbor seals, and ensure they remain safe. Removing any pet waste left by your pooch is also a must. Not only is this polite, ensuring no one else encounters unexpected waste during their visit, but it is also required by law.
