Description
If you're looking for a pawpular spot to take Fido and the fam for a day of fun, consider a trip to Shark Reef Sanctuary. Shark Reef Sanctuary offers the best of both worlds with both hiking trails and a beautiful rocky beach sure to please every member of the family, whether they are of the canine or human sort. Named for a reef located near to Lopez Island, this pawsome beach and trail system attracts many people and their pooches each year. With 39 acres of property to explore, you and your pup are certain to get in an excellent workout, be it swimming in the crystal waters of Puget Sound or meandering through the wooded trails. Be sure to keep Fido on a leash to avoid a run-in with the Washington Paw Patrol.

There are lots of pawsitively awesome things to do at Shark Reef Sanctuary. You and your adventurous pup can view the wildlife that makes the area its home, including birds, seals, and sea lions. Lucky visitors might even be fortunate enough to glimpse a whale from time to time. The area is also the ideal haven for avid fishermen and lends itself well to picnicking and even quiet naps perched on a rock on the beautiful beach.

Want to commemorate your day of beach fun with some photos? From the shores of Shark Reef Sanctuary, you will see breathtaking views of the San Juan channel and the Olympic Mountains that make the ideal backdrop for family pictures.

Since clean up bags are not provided and there are no bathrooms on the premises, be sure to pack a "beach day essentials kit" which includes bottled water, clean up bags, and anything else you think your favorite furry friend might need for a day of beach fun. Don't forget to include a tasty snack to enjoy after your day of hiking and swimming at Shark Reef Sanctuary. To be sure your favorite canine pal is safe from diseases that aren't so doggone furiendly, stop by your local vet before your trip to make sure Fido has all of the recommended shots.

Looking for a place to spend a paw-rific day with your favorite canine pal? Why not take Fido and the family to visit Shark Reef Sanctuary?
