Sleeping Bear Dunes - CR 669 Good Harbor Bay

Good Harbor Bay Beach is one of the few dog-friendly beaches in the area.  It is located in the popular resort area of Traverse City, Michigan. The beach overlooks Lake Michigan, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the country. The lake is known for sandy beaches, beautiful blue water, and spectacular sunsets. 

The beach also offers clear views of the islands known as South Manitou and North Manitou. Located along the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park Shoreline, there are plenty of additional treasures to explore in the area. The area is gorgeous and had been voted as such by viewers on Good Morning America. If you are lucky, you may see an eagle. Or, just relax and enjoy the blue waters and sky, the breezes from the lake, and the flora of the nearby dunes and wetlands. 

Visitors to the beach report that this beach is secluded and allows them the freedom to play on the beach with their dog. There are picnic tables in the area. Bring your own water and treats for your beach-bound dog. There are facilities in the area but not at the beach. 

The park requires dogs to be on a leash. You will need to bring supplies to clean up after your dog. 

The Good Harbor Bay Beach has a trail that is a 2.8-mile loop. The trail is mostly wooded with low dunes at the start. The trail has a small bridge and some wetlands, as well. The boardwalk will help you and your dog to take a walk through nature as part of your day.  If you are a fan of nature, you will want to return with each of the seasons.
