Sombrero Beach

Enjoy the day at a lovely Florida beach with your favorite pooch at Sombrero Beach. Located in Marathon, Florida, Sombrero Beach is the perfect location to enjoy a dip in the ocean. Sombrero Beach is in the Florida Keys, and it gives beachgoers access to all kinds of fun. Unlike many of the beaches in the area, Sombrero Beach doesn't have any mangroves. The sand is soft and the water is a nice turquoise color.

Sombrero Beach hasn't become overwhelmed with tourists (that may change after people see this article, however), and the locals consider it a nice little secret spot.

The beach is home to a picnic pavilion, playground, volleyball court, restrooms, and showers. In 2001, the beach was completely redeveloped to be fully handicap accessible to allow all guests to enjoy their day on the beach.

Dogs are allowed on the beach as long as they are leashed. Dogs often enjoy romping through the sand and splashing in the water with their owners. As long as your pet isn't disturbing the other guests, they are fine to be on the beach and swimming in the water.

Common activities for the beach include swimming, sunning, surfing, fishing, and snorkeling. Often, you can find members of local yoga studios practicing yoga out on the beach when the weather is nice. If you are up for a little trip off of the beach, the Dolphin Research Center is very nearby. The beach is a turtle nesting area, and the Turtle Hospital nearby is home to sick and injured sea turtles until they are ready to be released back into the wild.

The beach is open from 7:30 a.m. to dusk every day. There are many local hotels nearby the beach for those who are traveling to the area. Some of these hotels are even within walking distance.
