Sporthaven Beach is located in Brookings, Oregon. Sporthaven is a large beach that has a wide, sandy area for dogs to play and run but also features pebbles and rocky parts of the beach as well. Since the beach is long and perfect for walking, it tends to get crowded, especially during the weekends, because people like to come here and walk their dogs along the beach and ocean. You will also find a small harbor and RV park located by the beachfront. Since the beach is between the sea and the harbor, you can access the beach through the RV parking lot where parking is free.

Near the beach, you will find picnic tables for enjoying meals or a snack. This beach is a favorite for whale watching and is known for its excellent surfing. Dogs are allowed on the beach during all time of the year without any restrictions. There is not much shade on the beach unless you bring your own beach umbrella to set up in the sand. Always make sure you have fresh water for your dog to drink if you plan on being at the beach for an extended period, especially if it is hot. Poop bags may or may not be at the beach, therefore, bring your own so you can clean up after your dog. Picking up after your dog is essential for keeping the beach clean and sanitary for other beachgoers.

This beach does not have outdoor showers or a restroom right off the beach, so if these features are essential for you, you may want to find another beach that does have these amenities. Overall, Southport is a pretty beach that is great for whale watching, walking the beach with your dog, and watching the sunset without any frills or fuss. We are confident you and your dog will have a great time exploring this beach!

Slice of heaven! It’s not huge, but it’s pretty secluded, lovely & fun for dogs. There are public restrooms right outside of the RV parking lot, stop in before you go. It’s not a flip flops & bikini kind of swim beach, but wear walking shoes & bring water for the dog and you’ll be fine. We went bouldering on the giant rocks with our dog, watched new home construction on the cliff, and even discovered a fresh water waterfall in an alcove. Be sure to grab a patio table outside for you & your furry friend, at Zola’s. 🍕 We popped into the taffy shop when we were done & hiked the short walk on the levy next to the fish market on our way out.
