For some of those 26 miles of sugar-white sands, your best friend can be right there beside you. We're talking, of course, about your four-legged companion, your pooch in crime, your doggo. Plenty of the Walton County Beaches offer doggo access, some just require specific regulations, applications, and rules.Â
The way it works in Walton County is different than the surrounding counties - in those counties, dogs aren't allowed to hang out on the beach. All it takes to get your furry friend next to you in the sand and surf is to apply for a $40 dog permit in order to have your pup on the beach with you.Â
It's a relatively simple process, but there are a few regulations that licensed doggos and their pawrents must abide by. For example, your doggo must be on a leash, and your pup is only allowed on the beach during certain hours.Â
Dogs are not allowed to roam the beaches freely, so make sure that you have a leash (and plenty of doggo poop bags) for your pup. You're welcome to walk your leashed dog on the Walton County Beaches, but the county requests that you don't walk your pup from 9 am to 3 pm during Standard Time and from 8 am to 4 pm during Daylight Savings time.
So come and see all the fun the Walton County Beaches have to offer you and your pooch!
