Description

Ansel Watrous Campground is one of northern Colorado’s premier campgrounds, perfect for casual campers and enthusiasts alike. It is located in Roosevelt National Forest, which spans over 800,000 acres and features scenic views and amazing wildlife. The campground’s great facilities and ideal location attract countless campers each season, and it has earned its reputation as one of the best places to camp in Colorado. And one of the best aspects of Ansel Watrous Campground is that it is dog-friendly, so you can bring your canine companion along for an amazing camping trip!

The campground is situated near the Cache la Poudre River, and it is shaded by a variety of tree species that also provide a scenic backdrop throughout your stay. It is a traditional-style campground; each campsite has a 12'x15' tent area along with a campfire ring and picnic table. Drinking water and grills are also available to enhance your camping experience.

If you’re looking for interesting ways to pass the time throughout your stay, then you’re in luck: there are many great outdoor activities available nearby. Head down to the Cache la Poudre River for rafting or fishing. Or you can walk to the Young Gulch Trail, a four-mile trail that is a popular hiking spot. Whatever you decide to do while you’re at Ansel Watrous, you can’t go wrong — even if you just hang out at the campsite and enjoy the company of your dog!

Remember that the nightly fee at this campground is $21. Also note that there are no RV water connections at the campground, and trailers cannot be taken to the lower loop. You are in bear country, so store your food safely and make sure to dispose of it properly.

You and your furry friend will have an amazing time at Ansel Watrous Campground, whether you want to sit back and relax or venture out and explore the Colorado Wilderness!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
