Argyle Lake State Park is a fun-filled park with tons of great activities for hikers, boaters, and anglers! The park’s campground has more than 85 campsites, many of which offer electric hookups. Dogs are welcome to join you in this campground, and the campground’s nightly rates begin at $10.00. There are two campsites at Argyle Lake -- Big Oak and Twisted Oak.Â
If you and your dog enjoy hiking together, Argyle State Park is perfect for you. The park has more than five miles of trails ranging in difficulty from moderate to strenuous. If you’d like to go for a hike along Argyle Lake, check out the Blackberry Trail or the Shore Trail. As you’re walking on these trails, be sure to look out for the beaver dams that dot the lake’s shoreline.
If you’re in the mood for a more strenuous hike, hop on the Horseshoe Trail or the Lonesome Oak Trail. As you’re hiking on these pawesome trails, you may get to see some of the more than 200 bird species that live in Argyle Lake State Park.
Argyle Lake State Park is also a great choice for boaters and fishermen. If you’re bringing a boat, kayak, or canoe, the park has a public boat launch you can use. Pontoon and boat rentals are also available in the park. In addition, Argyle Lake has a public dock where you can try your luck fishing for channel catfish, bluegill, rainbow trout, and more.
After you’ve finished with your day’s adventures, you and your pup can relax at your campsite. Each campsite comes with a picnic table and a campfire ring. You and your pup will both enjoy relaxing next to a roaring fire and looking up at the stars above!
