If you're in search of a secluded campground in the Minnesota area, you have to check out Birch Lake found in the Superior National Forest. The campground is on a lake that covers over 7,000 acres of land, making it the perfect place for water activities.Â
The grounds have a total of 29 campsites to select from, five of which are tent-only. Campsites are shaded, come with a picnic table, campfire ring with grill, as well as a tent pad. All sites are first-come, first-serve, aside from the one group site found at Birch Lake that can be reserved. The group site can accommodate up to 45 people and it has 8 parking spaces available, as well as an open play area perfect for kids and pups.
Within the campground, you will find amenities including vault toilets and drinking water. Water can be accessed using a hand pump that is solar powered. There is waste collection on the grounds and educational programs offered periodically. Boating ramps are available at the beach for guests to use. If you don't have a boat, don't worry because canoe rentals are also available.
There are many ways to keep yourself busy when visiting Birch Lake. Kayaking, swimming, and fishing are all popular water activities as the water is home to bass, crappie, walleye, and perch fish.
In the Superior National Forest, there are a variety of hiking trails you can explore with your pooch. The forest, like the campground, is pet-friendly, but you are reminded to keep your pooch on a leash at all times. Excessive barking is frowned upon, as are aggressive dogs. They’re also not permitted in designated swimming areas.
