Description

Covering more than 6,000 acres of woodland, Blue Knob State Park offers opportunities for adventure and outdoor recreation all year round. Located in the northwestern tip of Bedford County, this scenic park is less than 25 miles from both Johnstown and Bedford.

And if you want to go camping with your dog, this is one of many State Parks across Pennsylvania where you can do exactly that. Your pet is more than welcome to join you in this beautiful park, provided they're kept on a leash or in a crate and remain under your control at all times. You'll also need to clean up after your furry friend and make sure you abide by any posted rules concerning where pets are and aren't permitted.

With more than 45 campsites available, many of which are pet-friendly, Blue Knob State Park offers a paw-some spot where you and your dog can pitch a tent for a night or two. Cabin accommodation is also available but doesn't allow pets.

Once you've set up camp, you and your canine companion can start exploring the best the park has to offer. If you love hiking through the wilderness, you're in the right place. Blue Knob State Park has 18 miles of trails to explore, ranging from easy strolls right through to difficult treks. Several of the trails are designated as multi-use and can also be tackled on a mountain bike.

Blue Knob State Park gets its name from Blue Knob, which, at 3,146 feet above sea level, is Pennsylvania's second-highest mountain. You can expect spectacular views from the summit, and it's well worth checking out if you're ever in the area.

Other activities on offer include wildlife watching, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, and picnicking. There's plenty to see and do, so make sure you allow lots of time to experience it all.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
