Carter Lake

Stay by a reservoir with your favorite pupper in Loveland, Colorado at the Carter Lake Campground. This outdoor playground is open 365 days a year, making it a great destination for all types of nature enthusiasts. The body of water here exists because of a massive project to move where the water streams down the mountain slopes. 

You'll find 118 different campsites at this facility, most of which offer electric hookups. Nightly fees start at $15 and an additional entrance fee of $7 is needed to purchase a ParkPass for each vehicle that comes into Carter Lake. Special permits are needed to camp in this area, so check with management to verify that you have the right documents. While the park is open all year, the drinking water and the dump station are not accessible during winter months. Fires are allowed as long as they are built within the fire rings and all wood is brought in as opposed to being sourced from the forest itself. 

While here, most visitors spend their time around or in the water. Scuba diving is popular here, as is swimming, fishing, water skiing, and boating. Swimming is only allowed in one designated area, so be sure to keep that in mind. An annual regatta is held at the lake, adding even more fun to the area. There are a few different hiking trails that you can take your pooch on -- just make sure you keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as you go through the woods!

Canines are allowed here, as long as they're on a lead up to 10 feet long and are not be aggressive in any way. Puppers are not allowed in the swim area, so please make other arrangements for when you want to sit by the water.
