Description

If you’re planning an outdoor adventure near Colorado’s Chalk Canyon, you’d have to be barking mad not to consider camping with your canine at Cascade Campground! Facilities at Cascade are slightly primitive -- you’ll have to do without showers, electricity or RV hook-ups. However, some might say that the amazing location is worth sacrificing some creature comforts! The campground is well shaded by tall pines and features fabulous views of the striking white cliffs of Chalk Canyon. Though the 21-site campground has a couple of spots that are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, places at Cascade are in very high demand, so it’s still best to book early.

The area around Cascade Campground has plenty of furrific recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds! If casting a line is your idea of a good time, you’ll be glad to know that Chalk Lake is just a mile away from camp, and it’s well stocked with trout of all kinds. Hound-dog hikers should be well entertained by the wide range of trails in the area. The Cascade Falls trail has a trailhead just outside of camp, and while it’s pretty challenging, the views of the majestic falls are hard to beat. There’s even a stretch of the Colorado trail nearby! Cultured canines might get a kick out of a trip to the eerie mining ghost town of St. Elmos, fifteen minutes away. And if all else fails, you can always try your luck panning for gold in the river!

Wifi isn’t available at Cascade, and cellular coverage is all but non-existent. You might want to consider your camping choice carefully if you need to stay in constant contact. Otherwise, enjoy your digital detox! Campfires are permitted, and you’ll find drinking water available on-site. Remember to bring waste bags for your buddy, and have a pawesome time!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
