Clinton Lake State Recreation Area

Clinton Lake State Recreation Area is just over 30 miles west of Champaign, IL. This pawtastic facility offers group and individual campsites with modern amenities. Showers and running water are available from spring through fall, but expect to "ruff" it if you visit during the winter. There are also grills, tables, a beach, and lake access on-site. Nightly fees vary based on the location and class of your spot. While you're here, you can enjoy fishing and a range of water and land recreational activities.

The campgrounds spread along the lakeshore among some shade trees. Set up your site and head out to explore the property. Launch your sailboat, outboard, or other watercraft out on the 4,900-acre reservoir. Anglers flock to this property in search of bass, catfish, crappie, and walleye. You can cast your line from your boat or one of the access areas. Between Memorial and Labor Days, take advantage of the 1,000 feet of sandy beach. Spend some time sunbathing or swimming to cool off on a hot summer day. Check out the North Fork Trail when you want to wander through the woods and fields. This 11-mile path takes you on a challenging hike along the steep banks of the lake and by a 40-acre restored prairie. You'll have furrific views of the water here.

According to the park's rules, leashed canine campers can stay and play with you at this facility. Enjoy hiking with your adventure pup, just be sure to have waste bags with you to scoop and dispose of their poop. However, dogs are not allowed on the beach.

There are over 300 campsites at Clinton Lake Recreation Area where you can set up camp and take advantage of this wagtastic property. Come to try and catch a record fish or watch the resident wildlife. You're likely to see animals like deer, osprey, waterfowl, and more during your visit.
