If you’ve been searching for the ideal campground for your next camping trip in Colorado, then you’ll be glad you found Cobbett Lake Campground. Set in the vast Grand Mesa National Forest, this campground is one of Colorado’s best. It is surrounded by scenic woodlands and mountains, and there are some great outdoor recreation sites in its vicinity as well. The best way to camp is with good company, and what better company is there than that of your dog? Cobbett Lake Campground is pet-friendly, so bring your pooch along and you’ll be sure to have a furrific camping adventure!
Twenty sites make up the campground, and the sites have a nightly fee of $16. If you aren’t planning on staying overnight, then you only have to pay a $4 fee for day use. The campground rests next to Cobbett Lake and is shaded by dense spruce trees, all of which provides a beautiful backdrop for your stay. You’ll find all the amenities you might need on the premises: picnic tables, campfire rings, trash collection, and drinking water are all available.
If you’re looking to spend some time exploring the area and experiencing the Colorado outdoors, then you have quite a few options to choose from. The adjacent lake allows non-motorized boating, and it is also a prime fishing destination where you can catch a variety of trout. The lake connects to a hiking trail, and the Grand Mesa Discovery Trail is another trail nearby. If you want to learn more about the forest, you can head to the Grand Mesa Visitors Center, which is within walking distance of the campground. It offers informational exhibits, a flower garden, and a bookstore.
As always, you should make sure you follow the campground’s regulations throughout your visit. Dogs must be kept on-leash. Also note that you should bring bug repellent because mosquitos are abundant in the area.
