Looking to camp in the forest near Lake Manitou? Enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, and biking when you camp at Colorado Campground, about 35 miles north of Pikes Peak. This puptastic family facility has 80 sites that include picnic tables and fire grates. You can bring your tent and two vehicles or an RV up to 36 feet long, although there are no hookups available here. There are some double campsites here that you can use for a larger group of people. The larger spots go for $46 per day. A few of the sites are reservable, but most are first-come, first-served.
Once you set up your base, you can take a stroll to the water. There's a footpath that leads north through John's Gulch to the reservoir. Take the trail around the shoreline or bring your rod to do a little trout fishing. Feel free to launch a canoe into the water and paddle around the pond. You'll also enjoy stunning views of Pikes Peak here.
Bring your bike to take a ride on the Centennial Bike Trail, a paved route which stretches for about 7.7 miles from Manitou Lake to Woodland Park. Follow the gentle descent as you gaze at beautiful wildflowers that dot the mountain meadows. End your day around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and talking about your adventures.
This area is a puptacular place to camp with your four-footed friend. Always keep Fido on a leash and under your supervision. Strive to leave no trace of your visit by removing their poop and throwing it away.
With spectacular scenery and an abundance of recreational activities, it's no wonder that Colorado Campground gets lots of visitors! Come here with your family and enjoy the outdoors together, but remember to practice bear awareness. Clean up after eating, and store food and other items in your car or a sealed container at night.
