Thunder Ridge Campground rests in Woodland Park, Colorado, and it is a popular destination for campers from near and far. It sits right above the Rampart Reservoir, and the surrounding Rocky Mountains create a magical backdrop for your camping experience. Pike’s Peak is close by as well; it is one of the highest peaks in the whole country at over 14,000 feet. Many activities can be found around Thunder Ridge Campground, and with all these great features, it is no surprise that so many campers choose to return every season. The campground has twenty sites, each of which can accommodate up to eight campers. The nightly fee for a site is $23, but if you’ll only be using the campground during the day, the fee is just $7. There are many useful amenities in the campground that will improve your experience. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring, and the campground offers drinking water. Ponderosa pine trees provide ample shade for the campground as well.
There are a number of activities in the area that you might want to check out. The Rampart Reservoir is a great location for trout fishing, boating, and swimming. The Rampart Reservoir Trail rests just beside the water, and it runs for 14 miles providing an excellent opportunity for a hike or a short walk.
When you are planning your trip to Thunder Ridge Campground, remember that your canine companion must remain on-leash at all times. Also note that you are in a bear zone, so you should store and dispose of food safely. Because Thunder Ridge is a high-elevation campground, you should exercise caution if you are arriving from a significantly lower elevation. Finally, remember that there is a one RV limit for each site, and additional vehicles will incur a $6 fee.
