Cow Creek South sits in the sprawling, 2.3 million-acre White River National Forest. This area is nested within the heart of the Rocky Mountains, which means guests are treated to some spectacular scenery.  The area surrounding Cow Creek South offers several nearby opportunities for fishing, hiking, and boating during their respective seasons. Guests with dogs will enjoy the multiple hiking trails available here.

A total of 44 sites are available in Cow Creek South, all of which provide guests with a picnic table and in-ground fire pit. These sites can handle tents as well as recreational vehicles, but guests with RVs should note that no plumbing or electrical hookups are available, nor are there dump facilities on-site. Double sites are available for $36 per evening. If you're spending the evening with Fido, make sure they're in your temporary dwelling throughout the evening. Dogs visiting Cow Creek South are to be on a restraint at all times while steering clear of any indoor facilities.

If you're looking to bring a boat along for your excursion, Cow Creek South offers launch services on the adjacent Green Mountain reservoir. This concrete ramp is provided free of charge to overnight visitors, provided the reservoir's levels aren't too low when you arrive. For up-to-date information on current water conditions in and around Cow Creek South, make sure to visit the official website. All manner of watercraft is allowed here, including both motorized and non-motorized boats, canoes, kayaks, and jet skis. Be sure to verify that your vessel's registration is valid before your arrival. Canines are free to accompany guests out onto the water, but cannot swim in the reservoir itself.

Fishing is also popular at Cow Creek South, with Green Mountain reservoir offering a chance to catch species such as kokanee salmon as well as brown and rainbow trout. Guests planning to catch their evening's dinner should pack up all essential items for the sport before their arrival, as no rental services exist here.
