Situated in South West Virginia with mountain access is the Deer Trail Park and Campground, a true outdoor oasis. The campground is pet-friendly, so bringing Fido isn't an issue, but you must clean up all pet waste and keep them on a leash at all times.
Deer Trail Park can accommodate campers looking to stay in an RV, tent or Cabin. RV sites are available with full-service hookups. Both 30 and 50 amp electrical are offered, but be sure to specify what type you need when reserving your stay. All tent sites come with water and electric and most are located right on the creek. There are 25 tent sites in total that can also fit pop-up trailers. These sites are level and shaded, making it ideal to pitch your tent.
Various cabins are available to rent if you would like a modern camping experience. Regular cabins contain mini-refrigerators, a microwave, and a coffee pot. A fire ring and picnic table are right outside and the bathhouses are located nearby. One pond-side cabin is offered that overlooks both the pond and the creek. It comes with a full kitchen and bathroom as well as a queen size bed.
Activities offered within the campground include swimming in the heated swimming pool, fishing in the catch and release pond, hiking the many trails right inside the campground or on the sister trails nearby, and checking out the Jefferson National Forest, which is right beside the campground.
Other activities you can enjoy include horseshoes, volleyball, badminton, and playing at the playground. There is a games room that was just renovated where you can find coin-operated pool tables, a television, and a jukebox. A workout facility has weight machines and treadmills. You can also catch local musicians at Big Walker Lookout between the months of May and October.
