Dreher Island

Dreher Island State Park in Prosperity, South Carolina, is a hidden paradise offering campers a relaxing vacation. This state park is actually three islands that take up approximately 350 acres of land. Lake Murray surrounds the park, giving guests unlimited access to the water.

At Dreher Island, you have the option of tent camping, bringing your RV, or renting a cabin or villa. If you're packing you're own equipment, tent or RV camping is what you're looking for. All RV and tent sites have electrical and water hookups, a picnic table, and access to washrooms and hot showers.

For those looking for a more luxurious getaway, renting a cabin or villa would be perfect for you. Dreher Island now has five, new lakeside villas that come with a variety of amenities including AC, linens, eating, cooking utensils, WiFi, satellite TV, a grill, and a picnic table. Similarly, cabins also offer an upgraded experience with heating and AC included, as well as electrical outlets and WiFi. You, unfortunately, can't cook in cabins, but you have a grill and running water right outside of the unit. All ten cabins are open year-round, however, they are not pet-friendly.

You are welcome to bring your pup with you to the general campsite for RV and tent camping. Within Dreher Island State Park, they are lenient with dogs. As long as your pup remains on a leash six feet in length or shorter while you explore the park, there will be no issues. Make sure to tidy up after your pet and that they do not disturb wildlife. 

While at Dreher Island, enjoy all the activities offered within the state park. These include fishing, boating, and swimming in Lake Murray. Scuba diving is also permitted and popular in the lake.
