Description

The Emerson Bay State Recreation Area offers accessible camping along the shore of West Okoboji Lake. This furrific facility includes flush toilets, showers, tables, fishing jetties, and fire rings. Sites have electric hook-ups, and some spots include full service. Set up your RV or tent here to enjoy the recreational opportunities on offer. Whether you come here to go boating and fishing or you want to take advantage of hiking trails, this property offers a great place to establish your base.

There are 82 sites available near the water in this facility. You'll find a boat ramp to the north of the campground where you can launch your watercraft into the Iowa Great Lakes and search for a prime site to fish for walleye, pike, bass, and other species. Your canine co-pilot can cruise around the shoreline with you to enjoy the idyllic beauty --  just don't forget the doggie life jacket! You can bring outboards, canoes, and sailboats here.

Head north a few miles to go hiking in Gull Point State Park. There's a 1.5-mile interpretive nature trail where you can view wildlife like deer and songbirds as you learn about the area's history. In warmer months, visit Emerson's Bay beach to bask in the sun or swim in the crystal-clear water. Complete your day around the fire ring watching the sunset and roasting marshmallows.

If you want to bring any four-footed family members, keep them on a leash or otherwise restrained at all times. Pups are furrific companions on the trails and in your boat, but don't leave them unsupervised, and make sure to scoop their waste.

Visitors flock to Emmerson Bay State Recreation Area to enjoy camping by Iowa's Great Lakes. Spots are available by reservation and on a first-come, first-served basis. There are modern amenities, swimming, fishing, and easy lake access on-site. You can also visit sites like Lighthouse Point, where you can share a picnic by the water and climb the lighthouse tower for a panoramic view of West Okoboji Lake.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
