Description

Green Ridge campground is located on the south end of beautiful Shadow Mountain Reservoir in Granby, Colorado. The campground is open between May and October, with the busiest times of year being around the major summer holidays such as Labor Day, Memorial Day, and especially the Fourth of July. This campground does allow dogs. However, dogs must be leashed.

The campground butts up against Rocky Mountain National Forest and due to a pine beetle problem, there is little to no shade. The terrain is somewhat grassy, and the campgrounds are located next to the Shadow Mountain Reservoir. There is accessible drinking water as well as restrooms available. It’s unknown if there are showers. There are campfire pits, however, campfires are not currently being allowed because of fire danger.

As mentioned, the peak time for the area as a whole is around summer holidays, especially around the Fourth of July. There are no water hookups available, however, there are tent pads and picnic tables. There is a great variety of activities to enjoy including hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and more. It is also located roughly a two to three-mile drive from the spectacular Rocky Mountain National Park as well as the charming historic town of Grand Lake.

As previously mentioned, dogs are allowed at the campsite. The only rule listed for dogs is that they need to be on a hand-held leash. It’s unknown if there are poop bags available, so be ready to scoop with your own poop bags to keep the area clean. It is always best to bring all of your pooch’s necessities along such as food, bedding, toys, bowls, and any needed medication.

It’s important to note that the area is extremely flammable because of pine beetles killing many of the trees. So, keep in mind there isn’t much shade and since this campground is over 8,000 feet above sea level, you can get a sunburn more easily. There are also bears to watch out for, so keep your camp clean and an eye on your pooch to avoid problems.

Next time you’re in the beautiful Colorado Mountains, there are great adventures to be had at Green Ridge.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
