Just outside of the town of Creston is Green Valley State Park, a destination for campers and daytrippers alike! The main feature of the park is Green Valley Lake, but two other lakes are in close proximity to this campground. No matter your planned length of stay, you and your pupper can enjoy your time at this state park.
Green Valley has something for everyone, with full hookup sites, electric-only lots, tent sites, cabins for rent, and two reservable picnic shelters on the grounds. In addition to vault toilets, there are also modern restrooms for campers to freshen up in, along with showers. The cabins are rustic and made of pine logs, giving off a feel from centuries ago. These dwellings do not have their own bathrooms, so if you choose to stay here, you will have to use the campground washing facilities. You'll also need to bring your own bedding, towels, and cookware, as none of this is provided. There are two playgrounds in the campground, so kids can have fun hanging out while parents sit back and unwind.
As Green Valley Lake draws people from all around, you'll find it gets busy there during the warmest months. You can spend your days on the beach or take to the waves with boating, although no motors are permitted here unless they are in the designated waterskiing area. Fishing is a big draw here, as the lakes have been stocked and harmful species have been removed. There is ample wildlife -- and wildflowers -- worth checking out within the park, and a paved trail makes exploring the land simple!
Furry campers are welcome to come along -- as long as you keep them by your side. This park asks that dogs are attended to at all times. Pooches need to be on a 6-foot (or shorter) lead during the entirety of their stay. And be sure to bring your stash of poop bags with you, as cleaning up after Fido is mandatory.
With nature abounding right outside of urban comforts, Green Valley State Park offers camping anyone can get excited about.
